As a good Scandinavian-American, I am a huge fan of hydrotherapy. Give me a hot soak or some dry heat, wrap me in clean jammies, tuck me in and I’m in heaven. It transcends mere comfort or luxury; it’s an act of self-nurturing. The far infrared sauna experience is a healing tradition in many parts of the world.
In Norway, the sauna is celebrated as a symbol of the region. It is a cultural tradition that started as a way to keep warm and survive the long, dark, cold winter season. It is the health benefits, however, that bring me to highlight this longstanding ritual.
